Project Challenge Alum Awarded Scholarship to LaSalle University

29-Nov-2009 BWSF would like to congratulate Kiara Smith a former Project Challenge student headed to LaSalle University on a tennis and academic scholarship.  Project Challenge implements after school and summer programs that provide instruction, academic enhancement, and anti-drug workshops to children throughout the city of Philadelphia. The program focuses on sports and fitness instruction as a means to deter drug use, develop self-esteem and health conscious practices, for use in students’ daily lives. The program serves predominately minority athletes in underserved areas. The children learn aspects of organized competition as well as receive coaching in three non-traditional, urban sports; tennis, fencing, and lacrosse.
