A delegation of professionals with expertise, experience and interest in sports and physical education has been selected to exchange ideas and address common issues with their professional counterparts in South Africa. This delegation will travel to Johannesburg and Cape Town from November 1-11, 2010 and will be led by Alpha Alexander, Ph.D., Co-Founder and Vice President of the Black Women in Sports Foundation. You are invited and encouraged to participate.
The primary professional objective of this delegation is to explore the physical education, sport systems, and health and wellness systems in South Africa. Delegates will gain understanding of the current system of physical education in South Africa.
The following subjects are of particular interest to the delegation. These topics may be further refined to incorporate the specialized interest and expertise of the individual delegates.
- Educational system - physical education at the following levels: elementary/secondary/high school/private/public/college
- Sports venues and facilities
- Health and wellness
- Technology use in physical education and sports
- Women's sports in South Africa
- Hands on service project
- Post World Cup discussion and venue visitation
